Arne Sahlen

What is his role in CVMTA?

Arne is a member of the CVMTA; he also volunteers on the Festival of the Arts Committee, and supports fellow CVMTA members with group events such as recitals, Focus on Youth, and the CVMTA’s annual Teachers’ “Tapestry” Concert.

Piano, music theory, composing & pedagogy.

About?

Kimberley-based since 1981, Arne teaches piano, theory, composing and pedagogy (teacher training). He works with all levels and all ages (including adults) - to focus on fascination, fun and finesse.

Arne graduated from the University of Victoria with Distinction in Piano Performance, and from both Royal Conservatory and Victoria Conservatory of Music in Pedagogy.

Arne worked on piano repertoire selection for three Canadian exam systems, and served for 20 years as a Visiting Professor at Cambodia’s Royal University of Fine Arts.  My students have won many awards, gone on to study at renowned institutes, and moved into distinguished careers in music. Arne was a piano examiner for 25 years, and also adjudicated piano and composing at local, regional and provincial festivals (more than 120 to date.)
