What is her role in CVMTA?

Laura From is the Creston Valley Music Teachers’ Association’s President, and Treasurer. She also volunteers on the Festival of the Arts Committee, and supports fellow CVMTA members with group events such as recitals, Focus on Youth, and the CVMTA’s annual Teachers’ “Tapestry” Concert.

What does she teach?

Piano, trumpet, trombone and euphonium.

About?

Laura studied music in Edmonton,Alberta, for 10 years with various teachers, achieving Grade 9 with the Royal Conservatory of Music, in Canada.

Laura has been playing brass instruments for 40 years, and has enjoyed playing in various groups. Laura has played with the East Shore Dixie (trombone), the Kokanee Brass (trumpet) and the Plumbers Union Brass (euphonium).

She has been teaching for 30 years, (27 of those 30 years have been in the beautiful Creston Valley). She follows the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) piano curriculum for a well-rounded music experience. For brass, she focuses on proper embouchure, playing posture and the fun of playing brass instruments.
